About Eddie

I remember sitting at Eddie’s graduation on a beautiful Wednesday evening surrounded by my family and members of the Henderson Community that have been a part of our lives since Eddie was just a small boy.  The night was an emotional one, our familiar cocoon of Henderson, Peirce, and East Bradford was coming to a close.  I was struggling to find Eddie in the crowd of maroon and white, but I knew wherever he was he was happy and safe.  Those were terms I used quite often in describing Eddie’s time at these schools and the West Chester Community.  Eventually, the salutatorian, Courtney Deacon, took her spot and of course I recognized the name, knew her face, and knew she was yet another kind soul.

Although I did not personally meet every person that Eddie knew or who had been a part of his life, Eddie often told stories about his experiences at school, so I came to know many people and the kindness that each and every one of them showed to Eddie.  I can’t recall Courtney’s exact words or how she started her speech, but I was immediately in tune to her and her touching words.  I felt as though she was specifically talking about Eddie, I thought she was speaking directly to me.  Courtney went on to describe the community of Henderson exactly like I viewed it, exactly what I experienced being a part of it.  The word she used to describe the community of Henderson was “Ubuntu”.

Specifically, Ubuntu can be translated to “I am who I am because of who we all are”.  Yup, that simple word Ubuntu describes Eddie.  Eddie is who he is because of who we all are, Eddie is who he is because of all of the people that have touched his life, touched our lives, through the years.  Eddie is who he is specifically because of the concept of the simple word “Ubuntu” that carries so much meaning, and the kindness that was showed to him throughout the years that shaped who he still is today.  Well, now, that still applies and well, now, Eddie is still a part of the West Chester Community, still loves his town, and has continued to make connections and now, wants to give back to his community that has given him so so much.  So, come find out more about Eddie because Eddie knows West Chester.

How We Got Here

Eddie Knows West Chester was an idea that we tossed around for some time. Friends and family had suggested on many occasions that Eddie should start a blog because he is so knowledgeable on so many topics, especially West Chester. We thought it would be a great idea for him to share his wealth of knowledge and at the same time interact with his community. Eddie was born and raised in West Chester along with his two younger brothers, Thomas and Casey. When Eddie was just a little guy, we came to realize very quickly what a great community West Chester really is. We witnessed firsthand what the power of community and support can do!! That support continues to this day!!

Well, Eddie became a “facebooker’ and has joined many West Chester Community Groups to stay connected to his town! On these Facebook groups, Eddie started connecting people to businesses. Someone in a group would ask if anyone knew of a baker, no doubt Eddie knew a baker! For example, he would answer with Amy’s Sweet Bake Shop of course. He would hear back from Amy, thanking him for the connection. Eddie would do this quite often, like a lot…. and it was something he looked forward to doing when checking in on the groups. That pretty much was the initial concept of EKWC… making connections in the community and at the same time promoting WC businesses, his friends, his town. Instagram seems to be the social media hot spot right now, so we started there!! So come check out EKWC’s journey through West Chester and get to know Eddie and your local businesses because of course, EDDIE KNOWS WEST CHESTER!

EKWC connected with Isabelle, owner and creator of Awaken Permanent Cosmetics. APC is located at 8 East Gay Street, above Scoops and Smiles. She would love to get to know you and share her love of cosmetics. Isabelle was a student at WCU, fell in love with the area and knew she wanted to become an entrepreneur and start her business here. Isabelle also wanted to work in the beauty field and wanted to help her clients become their best selves. Isabelle struggled with confidence and she wanted to help women feel better about the way that they looked and adding a boost of confidence to someone’s attitude goes a long way. She always wanted to have her own business and build something from the ground up. She took inspiration from one of her mentors who was a makeup artist. She loves her work and to make her clients happy. She wants people to know that her studio is more than a place to get PMU, it is a safe space to be yourself and love yourself. Isabelle is all about women empowering other women!! So what is permanent cosmetics? “It is a cosmetic technique that uses a tattoo machine to enhance the features of the face and create long lasting results!” Side Affects include…..no more makeup application, enhanced beauty 24/7, saved time and energy and no worry of sweating makeup off! APC offers Lip Blush, Ombre Brows, and Lash Line Enhancement. APC has long term goals to expand her business and add services. Isabelle also has personal goals to become an Esthetician. Right now she is perfecting all of her permanent makeup skills. Eddie Knows West Chester

Everyone was anxiously awaiting what was to come of the empty building at 111 North Church Street. Well Turk’s Head Café moved in with a bang!! EKWC connected with Mike Lamont a bit ago about their retail business Turk’s Head Coffee Roasters. TH Coffee Roaster started as Lamont Coffee, a very familiar name in the area and has been around for over 60 years and four generations of Lamonts!! Well, after continuing success, The Lamont Family had their eye on exactly this building to be the home for their Turk’s Head Café, right in the heart of West Chester, their home town!! We were able to connect with Jeremiah, on the day after they opened their doors!! We grabbed our drinks and sat at the window seat and just watched as patron after patron came in to see what the buzz was!! It was filled with customers from the time we took our seats to the time we left!! Luckily we were able to talk with Jeremiah but he was a busy guy! It was such a great atmosphere, just another place to meet with friends and watch what is happening in town. They turned the small space next to the building into the perfect little outdoor café spot with plenty of seating and coverage, along with gorgeous potted plants which just adds to the outdoor WC experience!!! They have very impressive menu which includes coffee from their family owned and operated roastery. They take pride focusing on finding sustainable local farmers. They also offer espresso shots, nitro cold brews, smoothies, frappes, and refreshers. Their menu includes muffins, avocado toast with local honey, jams and jellies. They have biscotti, bagels, fruits, protein granola bars and other snacks. Gluten free options are available also!! Keep your eye out for an expanding menu!! They have big plans ahead like music, events, and classes!! They are excited to be a part of the WC Community and give back thru coffee, tea and music!! So grab a coffee, sit at the window seat or grab an outdoor chair in their quaint pat#eddiesentme d#ShopSmall #shoplocalt#supportsmallbusinesseswch#wcshopsmallp#eatlocalp#wceatlocals#ekwce#westchesterpall #eatlocal #wceatlocal #EKWC #westchesterpa
