About Eddie
I remember sitting at Eddie’s graduation on a beautiful Wednesday evening surrounded by my family and members of the Henderson Community that have been a part of our lives since Eddie was just a small boy. The night was an emotional one, our familiar cocoon of Henderson, Peirce, and East Bradford was coming to a close. I was struggling to find Eddie in the crowd of maroon and white, but I knew wherever he was he was happy and safe. Those were terms I used quite often in describing Eddie’s time at these schools and the West Chester Community. Eventually, the salutatorian, Courtney Deacon, took her spot and of course I recognized the name, knew her face, and knew she was yet another kind soul.
Although I did not personally meet every person that Eddie knew or who had been a part of his life, Eddie often told stories about his experiences at school, so I came to know many people and the kindness that each and every one of them showed to Eddie. I can’t recall Courtney’s exact words or how she started her speech, but I was immediately in tune to her and her touching words. I felt as though she was specifically talking about Eddie, I thought she was speaking directly to me. Courtney went on to describe the community of Henderson exactly like I viewed it, exactly what I experienced being a part of it. The word she used to describe the community of Henderson was “Ubuntu”.

Specifically, Ubuntu can be translated to “I am who I am because of who we all are”. Yup, that simple word Ubuntu describes Eddie. Eddie is who he is because of who we all are, Eddie is who he is because of all of the people that have touched his life, touched our lives, through the years. Eddie is who he is specifically because of the concept of the simple word “Ubuntu” that carries so much meaning, and the kindness that was showed to him throughout the years that shaped who he still is today. Well, now, that still applies and well, now, Eddie is still a part of the West Chester Community, still loves his town, and has continued to make connections and now, wants to give back to his community that has given him so so much. So, come find out more about Eddie because Eddie knows West Chester.

How We Got Here
Eddie Knows West Chester was an idea that we tossed around for some time. Friends and family had suggested on many occasions that Eddie should start a blog because he is so knowledgeable on so many topics, especially West Chester. We thought it would be a great idea for him to share his wealth of knowledge and at the same time interact with his community. Eddie was born and raised in West Chester along with his two younger brothers, Thomas and Casey. When Eddie was just a little guy, we came to realize very quickly what a great community West Chester really is. We witnessed firsthand what the power of community and support can do!! That support continues to this day!!

Well, Eddie became a “facebooker’ and has joined many West Chester Community Groups to stay connected to his town! On these Facebook groups, Eddie started connecting people to businesses. Someone in a group would ask if anyone knew of a baker, no doubt Eddie knew a baker! For example, he would answer with Amy’s Sweet Bake Shop of course. He would hear back from Amy, thanking him for the connection. Eddie would do this quite often, like a lot…. and it was something he looked forward to doing when checking in on the groups. That pretty much was the initial concept of EKWC… making connections in the community and at the same time promoting WC businesses, his friends, his town. Instagram seems to be the social media hot spot right now, so we started there!! So come check out EKWC’s journey through West Chester and get to know Eddie and your local businesses because of course, EDDIE KNOWS WEST CHESTER!

It was such a pleasure to meet up with Joe from Engage Personal Training located right here in West Chester on Snyder Avenue. Engage PT just opened last November and is hoping to get the word out and grow their membership. The coaches at Engage focus on individuals over 40 who are looking to stay in shape or get back in to shape. The team tailors their programs for their members based on individual needs. After the initial consultation with your personal coach, each member will receive a custom 3 and 6 month plan including all the goals and their journey to get there!! Flexibility, mobility, and strength training are all a part of the program. Joe believes everyone can reach their goals and remain safe while doing it. The team primarily offers small group training while having individual attention during your workouts. While we were there, members were working hard going through their routines both unassisted and assisted by Joe. He was continually checking to make sure the members were doing well while giving support and encouragement. Joe himself was a member of the PA Olympic Training Center Team and has had more than his fair share of physical constraints and health issues so he has first-hand knowledge on how to work through those struggles. In addition to his personal training, the company is a proud supporter of the PSPCA, the World Central Kitchen along with other local philanthropic endeavors. Contributing to the community is one of their top priorities. Reach out to Joe at Engage and don’t forget to let them know that #eddiesentme. #shopsmall #shoplocal #supportsmallbusinesseswc #wcshopsmall #eatlocal #wceatlocal #EKWC #westchesterpa ... EKWC really enjoyed learning the story behind Kindred Couches!! As of 2025, the three brothers, Liam, Carlton, and Nathaniel behind Kindred Couches work side by side to provide West Chester and the surrounding areas high-quality, affordable couches. They take pride in their excellent customer service, and of course their commitment to sustainability through thoughtful recycling efforts. The beginning of the story starts with Liam, the older of the three. Liam’s path started in video production. When covid hit, Liam spent his time in a unique way - recycling couches out of his two car garage and selling them online. He would purchase used couches, clean them up, and stage them for resale.. and it always seemed to workout!! Early on, he realized that offering delivery was a valuable tool and to this day, it remains a key part of their commitment to customer service. After graduating from high school early, Carlton began his own side gig focusing on recycling couches. Of course his business took off and it was hard to keep up with demand. It just made sense to join forces! Liam eventually took another path and decided to sell liquidated couches from established companies and made his mark in the business. In 2024, Liam and Carlton combined their strengths, obtained key warehouse space, and began their venture as a team and established three silos of business. The first is refurbishing high end couches, the second, selling liquidated couches, and the last selling brand new items. The company continues to grow and Nathaniel joined the team as well, along with increasing their warehouse space to bring WC and the surrounding areas gorgeous couches and sectionals. The three brothers are becoming well known and have quite a presence on social media! Right now, customers can go online and check out their inventory and make an appointment to find your dream couch or sectional!! It’s waiting for you!! Follow Kindred Couches and reach out for an appointment.
